Oh, Winona!  This grounded, yet enterprising film spoke of 90’s culture in ways no other film could.  It connected with the MTV Generation while at the same to making fun of them and their culture being usurped by that entity itself.  Generation X resounds with trying to make it on their own while disavowing their parents and finding family among the group you create yourself, your friends.  Janeane Girafalo shines as Vickie with her comedic and dramatic cops along with Ethan Hawke who carry this film to its ultimate, real, yet lovable ending.  Here is a link to the 10th anniversary edition of the film: https://amzn.to/2NqfzCJ.  Hold it tight, they don’t make films like this any more:
