I remember reading this during my early high school years and I have read this during those times of frustration that seem to be coming more and more lately in regards to the world that we live in. Holden, the main character, leaves his school and goes to New York City to avoid talking to his parents. There he meets his family, a call-girl, a carousel, and some birds on a lake. All of these, powerful images in the book. Still not a film, due to the estate of J.D. Salinger, this novel lives in the 40’s but echoes to today. Pick up a copy and see if you, too, are a Catcher in the Rye.
