The 90’s brought to us the lyrics of Donovan sung by celebrities and emaciated models dressed in GAP gear. “They call me Mellow Yellow…” resonated with the group that GAP was trying to connect with to buy their clothes, those pre-hipsters, anti-establishment, yet still had mom and dad’s money to purchase clothes. Suddenly, everyone was singing this song that may have been forgotten to time and is now represented in commercial culture. Re-watch this commercial and giggle at who was popular at the time to sing the song in the commercial. Are they still viable in today’s culture? You be the judge. My opinion: At the time they had me, now, though, so white, so bland.
